Joseph Fowler

Fowler, who has previously served as an assistant coach for the New York City Empire teams, has been a volunteer lacrosse coach for the Doc’s NYC Youth Program for the past 10 years. Previously an All-American defenseman at Hofstra, Fowler extended his playing career in the club circuit with Long Island and North Hempstead teams.


Ben Kaminow

Kaminow, who serves as Director of Boys’ Lacrosse at Doc’s NYC Lacrosse, has coached with the Docs program since 1998. He is also a co-founder of CityLax and is in the New York City Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Kaminow has also volunteered his time to assist with the NYC Empire Team, and helped launch Rotten Apples and Team 212 High School recruiting teams. A graduate of Syracuse, Kaminow has played club lacrosse for Arena Graphics on Long Island.

Ryan Garling

2 year Co-Captain at University of Plattsburgh State. Have been playing close defense for 20 years. Post collegiate play with the Brooklyn Men’s Lacrosse Club, also travel to tourney’s with the Captain Lawrence LC to Lake Placid and other regional tourney’s. Coaching HS kids with CityLax for 5 years, and sit on their Jr. Advisory Board. Also coaching Doc’s Youth Lacrosse (Grades 6-8) for the past 3 seasons.

Billy Nguyen

Former St Johns University Men’s Lacrosse player and member of the Ohio State Men’s Rowing team. Currently a Creative Director at Apple Lacrosse store in NYC and coach at Frederick Douglass Academy in Harlem. Has been a CityLax/Doc’s NYC lacrosse volunteer since 2008.

Kenny Nims
Kenny was a four year starter for the Syracuse Orange where he won two National Champions including the tying goal in the 2009 National Championship game against Cornell. His efforts in the 2009 National Championship game earned him the NCAA tournaments Most Outstanding Player award. While at Syracuse Kenny totaled over 175 career points and was a 2X All American including being named a 1st team All American in 2009. While being a key contributor to Syracuse’s 2009 National Championship, Kenny was one of five finalists for the Tewaarton award for the nations top collegiate player. After his career at Syracuse Kenny was selected #1 overall in the Major League Lacrosse draft by the Chicago Machine and was selected to the MLL all star game in his first year in the league. Prior to his career at Syracuse, Kenny was an All-American Attackman at Watertown High School and rated the #3 high school recruit by Inside Lacrosse. Kenny is currently a member of Brine’s Research and Development team and plays professionally in the LXM professional league.


Mallory Palmieri

Education: Graduated for Physical Education from Adelphi in 2012.

High School: Played girls lacrosse at John F. Kennedy high school receiving All-County honors.

College: Played attack at SUNY Cortland from 2007-2010; Adelphi Attack player from 2010-2011

Coaching Experience: Volunteer Varsity Assistant Girls Lacrosse coach at Bellmore JFK (2011); JV Girls Lacrosse Coach for two years at George W. Hewlett High School (2012 & 2013);

Varsity Head Girls Lacrosse coach at John Adams in Ozone Park, NY (2014).

Volunteer Work: Trained several youth camps and clinics on Long Island.

About Empire State Cup

The Empire State Cup was designed in 2012 to give high school boys lacrosse players in the state of New York another opportunity to be seen and recruited playing at the highest level of competition possible.

The 2015 Cup will introduced a new format with 3 divisions for boys and girls lacrosse and a brand new 7 v 7 football division.

Lacrosse Divisions are by graduation year 2015, 2017 & 2019. Players can only play for one division, and are eligible to play up a level.

ESC now has introduced football with two divisions of 7 v 7

Graduation years 2016 & 2018.

The cup is designed to see who indeed is the best region in the Empire State.
